Implosion of an
aluminum can
Amit Aravapalli, Rohit
Prakash, Robert Watts

An aluminum can filled with steam was inverted in a container of
cool water to create this implosion. The event was illuminated with 3
sequential flashes of light to show the progress of the implosion.
Each flash was filtered with a different color to help distinguish
overlapping images of the can. The can had originally been painted
flat white in order to eliminate distracting detail and reflect the
same color of light as illuminated it.
