A hollow, plastic ball of approximately 10 inch diameter was thrown onto a table for this photo. The flash unit from a single-use camera was wired to a sound trigger to capture the flattened ball. While the duration of the flash of light from such cameras is relatively long, it was still short enough to provide a sharp image of the ball. For more information on modifying single-use cameras for high-speed photography, see Lo-cost, Hi-speed Imaging System.
