Potentiometers and knobs

linear taper potentiometerThese linear taper potentiometers provide easy adjustment of trigger sensitivity and delay. They have quarter-inch shafts.

LP1k A 1-kΩ pot is used for sensitivity control in the SK2 sound trigger.

1-kilohm linear taper potentiometer - $2.50

LP5k When used as a standalone trigger without a delay unit, the SK2 sound trigger is quite sensitive. If you have an application requiring less sensitivity, you can substitute a 5-kΩ pot for the 1-kΩ pot packaged with the SK2 kit.

5-kilohm linear taper potentiometer - $2.50

LP10k A 10-kΩ pot is used for sensitivity control in the SPG1 and SPG2 photogates.

10-kilohm linear taper potentiometer - $2.50

LP100k A 100-kΩ pot is used for sensitivity control in the TPG photogate and the LAT light-activated trigger and for fine delay adjustment in the DU delay unit.

100-kilohm linear taper potentiometer - $2.50

LP1M A 1-MΩ pot is used for coarse delay adjustment in the DU delay unit.

1-megohm linear taper potentiometer - $2.50

pointer knobPK This pointer knob will fit any of the above potentiometers. A set screw on the side tightens the knob to the shaft of the potentiometer.

3/4" hex knob - $0.99

Switches

SW2 This single-pole double-throw toggle switch can be used to select a sound trigger or a photogate as the input to a single delay unit or to select a short or long reset delay (timeout) for the delay unit. The switch can also be used as a simple on-off switch.

SPDT toggle switch (on-on) - $1.95

SPDT switch

PBO This is a momentary normally-open (NO) pushbutton. Push the button to close the circuit. This can be used as a test button to short the input of a delay unit to ground. We also use this pushbutton in the Camera Opto-Switch Kit.

Pushbutton (NO) - $1.05

Panel Jacks

For corresponding male connectors for these jacks, go here.

35MJ This jack accepts a 3.5mm (1/8") mono miniplug. This could be used as an input port for a microphone or an output port for a flash unit or camera. Terminal 1 connects to the sleeve and terminal 3 to the tip of the corresponding plug. If no plug is connected, terminals 2 and 3 are shorted.

3.5mm panel jack (mono)- $0.55

3.5mm mono panel jack

35SJ This jack accepts a 3.5mm (1/8") stereo miniplug. This could be used as an input port for a photogate cable. Terminal 1 connects to the sleeve, terminal 2 to the ring, and terminal 3 to the tip of the corresponding plug.

3.5mm (1/8") panel jack (stereo) - $0.55

3.5mm stereo panel jack

RCAJ This jack accepts an RCA-style (phono) plug. This could be used as an input port for a microphone or an output port for a flash unit or camera.

RCA panel jack- $0.95

RCA panel jack

0.25SJ This jack accepts a quarter-inch stereo plug. Terminal 1 connects to the ring, terminal 2 to the sleeve, and terminal 3 to the tip of the corresponding plug.

0.25-in stereo panel jack - $1.95

0.25-in stereo panel jack

4RCAstr This strip of 4 jacks can be bolted to a project box to provide 4 RCA outlets. The bolts, nuts, and a mounting template are included with the strip.

RCA inline jacks - $1.95

Inline RCA panel jacks

RCAJb This is another version of RCA panel jack. It's advantage over the RCAJ is that it can be bolted securely to the panel, thereby preventing any rotation or loosening. The disadvantages are that it takes up more space on the panel and requires three holes rather than one. Bolts and nuts (4-40 size) are included.

RCA panel jack (with bolts and nuts) - $0.75

RCA panel jack (with bolts)

PJ This jack will accept the plug from our 9-V AC/DC adapter. With the adapter plug inserted, terminal 3 connects to positive and terminal 2 to negative. With the adapter plug removed, pins 1 and 2 are shorted. This allows the jack to be used with either a 9-V battery or the AC/DC adapter. With a battery, the battery wires would be connected to terminals 1 and 2, terminal 1 being positive.

Power jack - $1.95

Indicator LEDs and Mounts

RLED Red light-emitting diode
This LED can be used as an indicator light for our SPG1 and SPG2 kits and delay units. See more information here.
