Three SPST switches for power and focus/review

 

Note: We have started providing 5 SPDT switches instead of 3 SPST and 2 SPDT switches The 3 additional SPDT switches will work as replacements for the SPST switches. We are doing this, because we have found the SPDT switches to be more durable than the SPST switches. The online assembly instructions show blue SPST switches. Use the red SPDT switches in place of the blue switches. While the SPDT switches have 3 terminals rather than the 2 shown in the assembly photos for the blue switches, you will not make a connection to the 3rd terminal. This is the terminal on the left in the assembly photos.

Panel jack for AC/DC adapter PJ AC/DC jack 1 Receptacle for 9-V AC/DC adapter as an alternate power source When the AC/DC adapter is not plugged into the jack, terminals 1 and 2 are shorted internally. This connection opens when the adapter is plugged in. Because of this feature, terminals 2 and 3 are used to supply power from the adapter, while terminals 1 and 2 are used to supply power from the battery. Terminal 2 is shared by the two power sources and is connected to ground.
3.5mm mono panel jack 35MJ 3.5mm mono panel jack 2 One of these is used as a receptacle for the microphone cord; the other is used as an input jack for triggers other than the on-board sound and photogate triggers. Examples include a contact trigger and a light-activated trigger.

When a plug is not inserted into the jack, terminals 2 and 3 are shorted internally. This connection opens when a plug is inserted. Terminals 2 and 3 are used to connect the sound trigger and photogate to the delay unit internally. Terminals 1 and 3 are used to connect an external trigger to the delay unit.

3.5mm stereo panel jack 35SJ 3.5mm stereo panel jack 3 One of these is used as a receptacle for the photogate cord and the other two are used for the output jacks. Terminals 1-3 connect to the sleeve, ring, and tip respectively of the corresponding stereo plug.

2 These are the plugs for the microphone and external trigger cables.

For the microphone, the sleeve is connected to ground and the tip to the microphone input.

For an external trigger, the sleeve is connected to ground and the tip to the positive output line of the trigger.

3.5mm stereo connector (male) 35SP 3.5mm stereo plug 2 This is the plug for the photogate cord. One is for the interrupter-style photogate and the other for the individual emitter and detector style. The tip is connected to +9 V, the ring to the photogate input, and the sleeve to a 470-ohm dropping resistor that then goes to ground on the breadboard.
