Optoelectronics and transducers
| INT Interrupter The interrupter, which is used in our SPG2 kits, houses an infrared emitter and detector in the same module. The gap of 5/8" (1.6 cm) is just right for detecting falling drops. |

| VPT Visible light
phototransistor This phototransistor provides high sensitivity in the visible range of wavelengths. This part may be substituted for an infrared phototransistor when using a visible light source. |

| ILED
Infrared light-emitting diode This LED is used in our photogate kits (SPG1 and TPG). It has a peak sensitivity at 940 nm. |

| IPT Infrared phototransistor This NPN phototransistor is matched to the ILED above. |

| RLED Red light-emitting diode This LED can be used as an indicator light for our SPG1 and SPG2 kits and delay units. See more information here. |

| PZ Piezoelectric disc This disc can be used to detect sharp sounds such as claps, snaps, and bursts. We use this disc in our sound triggers. |

| SCR 400-V silicon-controlled rectifier This is the output stage used in all of our kits. The SCR serves as an electronic switch. |

| 2N2222 NPN transistor This transistor is used in our sound triggers and transistor photogates. |
 |
| 555 Single timer The 555 timer is used in our photogates. |
 |
| 556 Dual timer The 556 timer is used in our delay units. |
 |
| 1KP 1-kilohm potentiometer This pot is used for sensitivity control for the SK2 sound trigger. |
 |
| 10KP 10-kilohm potentiometer This pot is used for sensitivity control for the SPG Schmitt trigger photogate. |
 |
| 100KP 100-kilohm potentiometer This pot is used for sensitivity control for the TPG transistor photogate and LAT light-actuated trigger. The 100k pot may also be connected in series with a 1-megohm pot (1MP) in a delay unit in order to provide fine control of the time delay. |

| 1MP 1-megohm single-turn potentiometer This pot is used to adjust time delay for the DU delay unit. |
