The green balloon didn't rip in this combination. The balloon material is relatively thick close to the knot. This reminds one of the trick of spearing a balloon on a long needle. The trick works because the balloon is punctured through the ends rather than the middle. Running fingers over the needle first oils the metal and helps the punctures to seal themselves after the needle is removed.
