of a tennis ball smashed to half its normal diameter was
captured using a sound trigger that was positioned about a
foot below the racket. The most difficult part of taking the
photo was hitting the ball dead center in the dark. Note the
distortion in the strings of the racket. This shows that the
ball exerts a force on the racket while the racket exerts an
opposite force on the ball. Why don't the strings distort as
much as the ball?
